Ode To My Body

Hey! So do you remember Sesame Street?

This used to be one of my favourite TV shows. Actually, to be completely honest, not when I was a little kid, but when I was a teenager!

I’m not sure exactly why it appealed to me and my friends in high school, (perhaps the fact that I attended kind of a hippie performing arts school), but we used to act out the skits from the program, play the songs, and enjoy the characters.

One thing I still love about Sesame Street is the way they try and introduce and talk about difficult subjects. Bringing up hard topics with kids somehow makes them easier, especially when you include a silly song!

So, for this week’s blog, I am going to share my silly song lyrics about why I love my body.

You can imagine your favourite Sesame Street character singing along if you like. Maybe you’ll even be inspired to make up your own song? I mean, really,  we sometimes just need to not take ourselves so seriously.

So here it is... enjoy!

I love my body

I love my arms, they’re so neat, they extend my hands so I can reach my feet.

I love my fingers and I love my toes, with half of them, I can scratch my nose.

I love my belly, it stores my food, and sometimes it tells me about my mood.

I love my shoulder blades, because they are cool

My knees go weak when I feel like a fool

What is better than a body when I have a task?

There is nothing more that I would ask.

I hope you had as much fun reading that as I had writing it! Maybe you can add a line to it, for yourself. Is there a special part of your body you want to honour today?

If its been awhile since you just marvelled at how amazing your body is, take it for a walk, or even a dance! Notice how it moves, and how it feels.

Feeling into our body, is a crucial part of being fully alive. It is what I help people do every day!

Write me your ‘ode to your body’, let me know how you feel about yours.

I would love to hear from you.

With pleasure
